Well a box was delivered the other day with about a quarter of an Iron Warriors army in it. 7 foam trays worth of Chaos Marines, Rhinos, Vindicators, Land Raiders and Decimators... Absolutely beautiful. This is the first time I've seen and painted an Iron Warriors army... Anyway, onto the pics. I haven't really been able to get good photos of this colour scheme but hopefully this will do.

They are sprayed silver first. The gold details are added. Next is a wash using diluted black acrylic paint (with a drop or 2 of dishwashing liquid). The yellow and black chevrons are added after and then lightly drybrushed silver to give the impression that the paint is wearing away. A few highlights of the gold again and then its sprayed with Matt Estapol funiture spray to seal/protect it (I was going to use Dullcote but it made the metal too flat). Next lot finished. There's gonna be lots of Rhinos and infantry. Luckily the Chaos designs allow for plenty of variety.

Gee's the real figures look so nice. I'll probably end up with most of the E40K tanks and such for the Black legion that Ive been looking at doing in the future... (sigh!)

Looking good Steve. There is lots of variety, the next lot has alot of vehicels that are mixes of 40k era loyalist and chaos. I cant believe the level of painting you get up to, its just fabulous.

Thanks guys. I think my Iron Warriors will be the same as yours Drew. I don't think it would be easy to get hold of this many OOP Chaos Vehicles but they really make it easy to get the required effect with the paint. I've been a bit slow over the last week (had an infected wisdom tooth thats now gone ) but here's what I've completed so far. Here's all the Iron Warriors I've taken delivery of so far (I think this is about 1/4 of the army from owners descriptions).

Here's a few more Iron Warrior bits and pieces. I've just recieved another box of Chaos forces to paint (Chosen, aircraft, artillery, Predators and more Land Raiders). The size of this army and the look of the Chaos vehicles is truly amazing. I wish they were all still available, I'd love to get some vehicle's like these for my own Iron Warriors later on...

Have you managed to get some decent Dreadclaw minis. Reaver has some really good ones if you don't. Drew your artillery will be doomed from the first turn Terminator Teleport attack!!!! With such a big Axe the warmaster could take out an Artillery formation on his own. These are some other characters that will make their way to Onyx for painting at some point. As you should be able to guess from this the Iron Warriors project is proving to be a bit of a collaborative project. I am chipping in with the odd conversion.
