Those who have been involved with other forums will recognise most of these rules from other locations. I’ve dropped a few of them as I believe that there’s enough common sense here in the group to make this work.
So let’s see how it goes…
Buy, Swap and Sell Forum Rules
The first and most important thing to know is that while this site provides this service to people, it is in no way responsible for any trade or purchase that you might make here.
The Moderators are happy to help with resolution of problems, but the buyers buy at their own risk.
The Rules:
Allowed Items:
The Buy, Swap & Sell forum is intended only for Epic or related items. Although other Gaming items will be accepted, the main reason for this section is for the buying and selling of EPIC items and there are plenty of other forums and locations for these other items to be sold.
The Sellers initial post should include:
Make sure that you add a note to the start of your post description and in the subject line, either WTB (Want to Buy), WTS (Want to Sell), or WTT (Want to Trade) so that people can tell at a glance what your intentions are.
• Item Condition – Describe the condition, whether they are painted, unpainted, stripped, undercoated, dented, missing parts, etc.
• Price - If you are selling items then you MUST include a price in your initial post. Auctions are not allowed; therefore we also don't allow sellers to 'take offers'. However trading for items for other items is acceptable.
• Item Edition - If selling miniatures you must include the miniature edition in your initial post. If you are unsure of the edition, post a picture instead or just let the buyers know - that way they won't have to ask.
• Postage Costs - Include information about postage in your initial post. You obviously can't always quote a dollar value but you should at least let the buyers know whether you are footing the bill for it, or if postage is included/extra.
• Payment Options - You must include the accepted forms of payment in your initial post. If you only accept Money Orders, say so. If you accept Direct Deposit and Paypal, say so. Again, this is for buyer awareness and to save you some bother down the track.
• Other Conditions - If you have any other conditions you must list them in your initial post. For example, if you don't like posting items interstate you must make this known in the initial sale post. This will save a lot of problems cropping up later. As another example, if you are selling multiple items but only want to sell them in one lot, let the buyers know.
• Handy Tip: A picture is worth a thousand words
How to sell on the BS&S forum:
1. Open a topic in the BS&S forum (obviously…)
2. Give clear indication of what is for sale in the topic Description: “WTS Space Marine army”, “WTS/WTT IG bits”
3. Give clear list of what you have, I tend to put number of individual figures and then afterwards an indication of bases or stands; “25 IG infantry – 5 stands worth”
4. Give a price for whole lot or if selling individual bits then give individual prices
How to Buy on the BS&S forum:
1. Reply to post in regards to interest in any part (or whole) of sale.
2. Seller to put items on hold for buyer till conformation of sale has happened.
3. Seller PM’s details to buyer, buyer pays.
4. Seller sends items.
Things not to do on the BS&S Forum:
'Behind-The-Scenes Trading' and 'Gazumping':
If there is an active trade thread in the Buy Swap and Sell forum, all buyer interest must be posted in that thread. PMs should only be required when exchanging personal details (bank accounts, addresses, etc). All posts to do with the trade must stay in the public thread where all interested parties and moderators can see them. There is no need to type "pm sent" anymore, just state which item you wish to buy and the seller can reply to your post in the thread.
For those of you who don't know, 'gazumping' is when a seller tries to play off two or more buyers to try and get a better price, or when a buyer tries to get an item already spoken for by offering a higher price. This is not allowed on this forum. By keeping all posts in their public threads, gazumping shouldn't be a problem in the future.
If you think you are being propositioned buy another poster into a situation that breaks these rules, please notify a moderator. We're just trying to make sure that buyers and sellers have a level playing field.
Sale Theft: Stealing someone's sale is bad form. Don't try to sell an item in someone else's Sale thread. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you, so don't do it. The reverse is also applicable - don't steal what someone else is trying to buy...
Problems:
If, for whatever reason, you feel that a trade/sale is going wrong, try to keep it private. Use the forums personal messenger and/or email to try and get a hold of the person to sort things out. If you can't get hold of the person and have to resort to a post in the forums, keep it simple. Something like 'XXXX - please contact me'. Under no circumstances should you post anything accusatory like 'XXXX - WHERE IS MY STUFF YOU @#$%!'. If you have absolutely no luck in getting hold of the person then contact a Moderator. They will try to advise you on how to proceed from there.
Be aware that sometimes Aussie post can be a bit slow, and be patient as well.
Let’s try to keep this forum fun and running well, all sales on here are helping the Aussie players to get armies set-up and that’s a benefit to us all.
So let’s see how it goes…
