Gday all, I just thought I'd show some of the work that Ive been doing in my spare time (while waiting for ink to dry... ;D) I got the Chaos bug after seeing the new (re-release) of the Infantry and thought I could make an army out of it and SM stuff that I have. I also thought that I could make up some doom wheels, so I downloaded the PDF and began from there. Heres some of the first pics: I decided to turn up the inside pieces out of timber rather than fiddling around with bases, and sorta went a bit crazy.... Theres 3 squads here and now I dont actually know if I have enough other parts to make them all up, but the scrounging continues Ive been able to pick up some BFG control towers from WGAU (these ones) and am planning on trying to make alot of the other stuff from some 40K chaos spikey bits, but I think this will be a long slow process.

Was there ever a Chaos Doom Wheel model? I'd never heard of it prior to joining this forum.
How big are these models - are the grid squares 1 inch or 1 centimetre?

The grids are only 1cm so they're really only about 45cm tall. I think it was Marks Khorne horde that got me thinking about them and then one night at work I had my flash drive at work reading my Epic stuf (as you do when you're running a multi-million dollar plant...) and I saw that I'd actually downloaded the files to make them and so now im on the scrounge for parts BTW, I need 40K spikey bits if anyone has any...?

Well I had a bit of a surge in excitement in the Chaos with a demo game day on the last weekend and so I started doing some drilling and adding bits. It turns out that with all the bits I can only make 3 for the moment, but with them costing over 200 points each, I guess I wont be running too many anyway ;D! Heres a couple of pics, there should be some more tonight: Basically I spent a couple of days just drilling and gluing spikes onto the first 3. I'm now working on the sides and they're starting to look ok.

Ok I've just finished off the sides (I think...) and they should be going on soon, heres some pics of the steps: I took alot of bits from BFG parts that I picked up off WGAU and used them to give it a more "real" feel. The main guns or the "battle cannons"were basically just glass bead tubes, they were drilled through and glued into the Heads... This next stage grew very quickly with the Auto cannons being added underneath, the tow bar and control tower fitting in perfectly as I wanted them. The skull and exhaust were added to fill out some flat surfaces. The next step was to glue the bases down so that the side pieces can be set up so the run parallel with the base.

These are looking awesome. I mean't to ask sooner: what are the tracks from?

The tracks are from the normal 40K IG vehicles. I may have 3 or so spare if you want, let me see if I can get any more parts and I'll let you know.

They are extremely impressive and will look great rolling across the battlefield.

Dude they look mint! Makes me wish I put more effort into me poor single lonely one. I did recoil in shock though when I saw that you had started 9 of them . You could probably trade the half finished ones quite easily on Epiccoms if you have given up on them.

Yeah, when I started I had planned to put less spikes on and thoughtI'd be able to pick up a few more control towers. 9 was actually an easy number to make from the piece of timber that I used ;D as I could fit that many in... I had this crazy thought when I first started to make them that I'd make an all Doom wheel force... ...I know, its crazy!

Exactly like some sort of project that I would start Like lets scratch sculpt an entire army worth of rough rider mounts for 40k (I have only ever finished 10 of 30 the rest are still part green stuff). Then coming up with the idea of using DRM 6mm lizard riding repilian aliens with the uper torsos replace by the catachan looking jungle infantry so that I can do my whole xenos mounted guard army in 6mm.
